Often times, we can hide the signs of aging under clothes and make-up, with hair dye, facial hair and skin products. But there comes a point when these superficial techniques no longer work effectively. They cease to cover expression and frown lines. They can no longer hide the creases in your forehead. The repetitive nature of application may also become tiresome. There is a long term solution to age lines on the upper portion of your face: A Brow Lift.

Your Panama brow lift is generally an outpatient procedure requiring local anesthetic and IV sedation. The procedure itself last between 30-90 minutes. Prior to your surgery, your doctor will briefly discuss your medical history as well as any medications you might be taking. Your doctor will enquire about your expectations and photographs will be taken of your face.

The two most common brow lift procedures utilize different incisions and incision sites. A coronal brow lift consists of one incision from on ear to the other across the top of your head just behind your hairline. Though this incision, your surgeon will be able to manipulate certain muscles that cause scowling, or forehead lines. Your medical vacation brow lift surgeon will then remove a strip of skin (1-2cm wide) from along the incision line. The scalp will then be sewn back together, pulling the forehead taught.

An endoscopic brow lift consists of four to six small incisions just behind your hair line. Your surgeon then inserts a small camera (endoscope) in to the incisions to manipulate the muscles that cause brow creases. Since your surgeon will not remove a strip of your scalp during an endoscopic brow lift, he may drill small holes in your skull and place tiny screws in them to hold your forehead tight. These screw will be removed, or absorbed by your body in time. Because a strip of skin is not removed, those who choose an endoscopic brow lift over a coronal brow lift are more likely to have a facial relapse and need further, corrective procedures later in life.

As your medical tourism brow lift is an outpatient procedure, be sure you have someone to pick you up from Punta Pacifica and spend at least the first night with you. As with any surgical procedure, you will experience swelling and bruising that will subside within 10-14 days. You may experience mild discomfort. Over the counter pain medication is usually all that is necessary to dull the pain. You should refrain from exercise for about two weeks following surgery. The final results of your brow lift will become apparent within two to four weeks following the surgery.

Though they can occur, significant complications are rare with brow lift surgery. You may develop a hematoma (needs to be surgically removed), impaired eyelid function, or decreased sensation in the forehead. Brow asymmetry and permanent hair loss can also occur.

Regain the confidence of your youthful look with a brow lift at Punta Pacifica Hospital in Panama.
