        Rhytidectomy (Face Lift)
As aging is unavoidable, so are its signs. Lifestyle choices, diet and exercise can keep you fit, but they dont keep age from baring its ugly face on your face. Crows feet, frown lines, forehead creases, sagging jowls are all signs of getting older. Luckily, Hospital Punta Pacifica offers Rhytidectomy.

Rhytidectomy is commonly referred to as a face lift and it is the third most common cosmetic surgery. A face lift is generally an out-patient procedure that can take between two to four hours depending on the amount of tissue being manipulated. General anesthesia is commonly used, though you may discuss anesthesia options with your surgeon.

Prior to your Panama face lift, your doctor will sit down with you to discuss a few matters. You will both review your medical history and speak candidly about your expectations and the risks involved with rhytidectomy. Pictures will be taken of your face from different angles for you medical records. Prior to your medical vacation face lift, you will be asked to refrain from smoking and taking aspirin or any other anti-inflammatory drug as they thin the blood and can cause an increase in bleeding.

The incision for a face lift is made at the temple, just behind the hair line, and it extends downward along the natural crease of your ear, around the ear lobe and ends behind the ear at the back of the scalp. The skin on your face is then separated from the underlying tissue. Your surgeon then removes excess skin and tissue through the incision site. Deep facial muscles are also manipulated to pull the face slightly taught for a more youthful appearance. Liposuction may be utilized to eliminate any unsightly fat deposits. After removing the excess tissue, your surgeon sutures the incision closed, effectively lifting?the face and eliminating signs of aging. Face lifts are commonly done in conjunction with other face work such as a brow lift, neck lift and/or blepharoplasty. If this is the case, multiple trips to the surgeon for the different procedures is often recommended.

After your surgery, bandages are loosely wrapped around your head. Your doctor may choose to place a small tube behind your ear to drain any excess blood and fluid that might accumulate. This tube and the bandaging is removed within two days following the procedure. There is minimal pain and discomfort after a face lift, but your doctor will still most likely prescribe pain medication. Bruising and swelling are common and can be reduced with the use of cold compresses. Complications associated with a face lift include infection, asymmetry, scarring, numbness, nerve damage, poor healing and correctable hair loss.

Any sutures are removed about ten days after your surgery and you should allow up to three weeks for rest and relaxation. During these weeks, follow your doctors instructions carefully and avoid any strenuous activity. Most people can be back to work about two weeks after the procedure and cover up scarring with make-up. When you return to work is dependent up you and you comfort level. Rejuvenate your life with a Hospital Punta Pacifica face lift.
